The gallery is pleased to participate for the first time at ARCO with a selection of works by Wilfrid Almendra (French-Portuguese, born in 1972), Daniel Dezeuze (French, born in 1942) and Aurélie Pétrel (French, born in 1980). The booth will create a dialogue between three conceptual artists whose work is characterized by the use of unexpected mediums and a strong and singular relationship to monstration.

In the work of artist Wilfrid Almendra, ideas and materials are inseparable. Its formal vocabulary comes from the architecture, shapes and surfaces we surround ourselves in. The materials he uses most often come from the alternative economy, barter, and exchange. They put in tension questions linked to social class, the desire for comfort, and the individual capacity for invention and poetry concepts which are at the heart of the most normative things.

Daniel Dezeuze was one of the founding members of the Supports/Surfaces group in the late 1960’s. His work seeks to explore and question the concepts that underpin painting, galleries, and space. The artist appropriates a wide variety of techniques, both abstract and minimalist, while constantly experimenting with what are seen as basic materials: net, gauze, wood, fabric, and metal.

Aurélie Pétrel combines in a singular way a plastic and a conceptual approach in a programmed series of scenarios wherein the exhibition format replays, each time in a different manner, the interpretative dimension of any partition, of any latent photography, of any form awaiting reactivation...
