Spencer Sweeney

Sweeney est un personnage aux multiples facettes; artiste, patron de boite, et musicien, sa pratique artistique dépasse l'espace de la galerie et du musée. Ses peintures échappent à un style propre, facilement identifiable, elles reflètent sa personnalité multiple et et la diversité de ses influences. Comme portraits ou reflets de la bohème «downtown», les peintures et dessins de Spencer Sweeney révèlent des visages et des figures évoquant une large gamme d'émotions viscérales, du bonheur à la mélancolie, du cynisme à l'espoir. À travers d'explosives distorsions de touches picturales et grâce à une palette de couleurs vibrantes, ces oeuvres glissent facilement d'un medium artistique à l'autre. En repoussant les limites formelles, Sweeney privilégie un flux naturel de créativité, ses sujets ainsi peints vibrent d'une énergie psychédélique qui attire l'attention entre les parallèles entre l'énergie intime et l'image publique du sujet.
