Biographie

Né en 1972 à Osaka (Japon), Naotaka Hiro vit et travaille à Los Angeles. Depuis 2000, il est titulaire d’une maîtrise en beaux-arts du CalArts (California Institute of Arts).

Ses expositions les plus récentes et les plus notables ont été : « Made in L.A. 2018 » au musée Hammer de Los Angeles, « Breaking the Waves » à la galerie Shane Campbell de Chicago (2018), « Protuberances » au centre d'art LAXART de Los Angeles (2016), « A Modest Proposal » à la galerie d'art moderne Hauser & Wirth de New York (2016) et RSVP Gallery Los Angeles : The Project Series at Pomona, au musée du Pomona College de Claremont, en Californie (2015). À la galerie new-yorkaise Brennan & Griffin (personnelles en 2013, 2016 et 2017, prochainement en 2019), « Mirror Effect » (2015) et « Men in LA: Three Generations of Drawers » avec : Naotaka Hiro, Paul McCarthy et Benjamin Weismann (2014), à la galerie d’art The Box de Los Angeles ; à la galerie d'art Misako & Rosen de Tokyo (personnelles en 2015, 2008 et 2007).
