Sherman Sam

Né à Singapour en 1966
Il vit et travaille à Londres

Sherman Sam est basé à Londres et à Singapour où il travaille comme artiste et critique.

Il a exposé ses toiles et ses dessins dans le monde entier, y compris à l’occasion d’expositions individuelles au The Suburban de Chicago, à la galerie d’art Rubicon de Dublin, au Lugar do Desenho de Porto, au the Centro de Arte de San João de Madeira au Portugal, à Some Walls d’Oakland, à la galerie Equator Art Projects de Singapour et plus récemment à la galerie Annka Kultys de Londres. Il a aussi participé à de nombreuses expositions collectives en Europe, en Amérique et en Asie du Sud-Est, dont M6: Around London à Andratx, Majorque, Sight Mapping (Suède, Écosse et Espagne), Plan D, une exposition sous son commissariat (Portugal, Irelande), Rhyme not Reason à la galerie Janet Kurnatowski de Brooklyn, Connected à Feature Inc de New York, et The Theory and Practice of Small Paintings à la galerie Equator Art Projects de Singapour

En tant qu’écrivain, il a été conseillé de rédaction à www.kultureflash.com, et il a écrit pour The Brooklyn Rail et divers magazines d’art anglais. Actuellement, il contribue régulièrement à Artforum, artforum.com, ocula.com et artcritical.com. Entre 2006 et 2008, il a été Inspire Curatorial Fellow à la galerie Hayward de Londres, et sélecteur dans le cadre du Prix du Jury Pro Arts 2010 à Oakland, Californie. Plus récemment, en été 2014, « A poem for Raoul and Agnes », une exposition collective qu’il avait sélectionné, était à l’Ancient and Modern de Londres.
