L'exploration par D'Anselmi de la tension continue entre l'humanité et le monde naturel. Les peintures à grande échelle de l'artiste représentent des figures sculpturales qui habitent des mondes luxuriants et oniriques. Évoquant la vitalité du fauvisme, leur peau est illuminée par des teintes vives d'orange, de turquoise et de lavande, complétées par les arbres fruitiers et les paysages envahis qui les entourent. La majorité des habitants de l'univers pictural de l'artiste vivent dans la solitude, immergés dans leurs propres réalités privées. D'Anselmi teste donc constamment la frontière entre ce qui est réel et ce qui ne l'est pas ; entre la façon dont les choses sont censées être et ce avec quoi il peut s'en tirer en tant qu'artiste. En fabriquant un monde qui ne respecte pas les règles de la réalité, D'Anselmi parvient à accéder à un émerveillement enfantin. Le dernier corpus d'œuvres de l'artiste capture à quel point le monde est vaste et plein de possibilités lorsque nous commençons à le découvrir pour la première fois.
