From 2 October to 21 November 2026, Ceysson & Bénétière Wandhaff presents an exhibition dedicated to the French artist Bernar Venet.
After settling in New York in 1966, Bernar Venet emerged as one of the pioneering figures of Conceptual Art. By introducing mathematical diagrams, equations, and scientific texts into the realm of art, he transformed systems of knowledge into a visual language, initiating a line of inquiry that has continued to shape his practice ever since.
The artist suggests that order can never exist independently of the forces that unsettle it. In his sculptures, there is a singular moment when steel appears to hesitate: nothing moves, yet everything seems perfectly balanced. Lines unfold, arcs respond to one another, and masses rise in silent tension. This suspended state, poised between stability and disorder, lies at the heart of the exhibition presented by Ceysson & Bénétière in Wandhaff.
Balance of Disorder brings together two bodies of work whose dialogue feels almost inevitable: the Indeterminate Lines, developed from the 1980s onwards, and the brand-new Vertical Disorder sculptures, presented here as one of their very first ensembles.
